Home to Class-A Offices and World-Class Living Alike, Coral Gables A Finalist For Prestigious Award

Since its founding 88 years ago, Coral Gables has evolved from a sub-tropical retreat for northern residents to thriving global business center of the Americas. Businesses and companies here find Class-A office and commercial space, amid neighborhoods that retain timeless architecture and welcoming lifestyle amenities. “The City Beautiful” is increasingly recognized the world over for its business, civic and residential attributes.

Case in point: the city being named a finalist in the 2013 LivCom Awards. The annual competition, which is endorsed by the United Nations, recognizes the world’s “most livable” communities. Coral Gables joins 13 cities in Austria, Greece, Korea, Malaysia, Hungary, Lithuania, France, Taipei and the Czech Republic as this year’s finalists.

No other city from the United States – or the Americas – was recognized.

The LivCom Awards is focuses on such attributes as environmental management and the creation of livable communities. Attributes considered include enhancement of natural and built environments; arts, culture and heritage; environmental best practices; community participation and empowerment; healthy lifestyle ; and strategic planning.

From its founding nine decades ago by George Merrick, the city has continued to grow, evolve and prosper. It’s home to hundreds of corporate and regional headquarters for companies doing business throughout the Americas. Its attributes and amenities provide complement to those found in the burgeoning business centers of downtown Miami and the Brickell Avenue corridor. The triumvirate create a thriving business hub unparalleled in the region.

Now, Coral Gables’ municipal, civic and business leaders are preparing to capitalize on the LivCom recognition in pursuit of the award. A presentation currently is being prepared; the international jury’s decision will be revealed in early December at LivCom’s 2013 International Awards event in Xiamen, China.

A win will increase global awareness, potentially boost tourism, and give reason for companies to continue to invest in the city.

“We are delighted, as should all residents be, that the hard work of all stakeholders to make our community the best it can be is also elevating Coral Gables’ stature to one of the top cities in the world,” said City Manager Pat Salerno.

We at Forté Properties are delighted as well. We welcome LivCom’s recognition of our charm and accomplishments in creating a world-class livable city we all can be proud of.
